Job summary

The Health and Care Professions Council is seeking a Stakeholder Engagement Officer to manage external relationships, oversee in-person and online events, and support the public and patient engagement programme. You will work as part of a growing Communications, Engagement and Public Affairs team.

This role requires strong teamwork, excellent people skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience setting up in-person and online events (webinars/workshops).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain HCPC's public and patient engagement work and feed feedback into the organisation.
  • Identify opportunities to raise HCPC's profile through stakeholder engagement, events and thought leadership.
  • Administer and oversee in-person events for the wider team.
  • Set up and manage online webinars, workshops and a stakeholder forum.
  • Represent HCPC at external meetings, acting as an ambassador for the organisation.
  • Assist in stakeholder management following the engagement plan.

Job description

As our Stakeholder Engagement Officer, you'll play a key role in managing and maintaining our external relationships, overseeing our in-person and online events, and supporting our public and patient engagement programme.

This role requires teamwork, excellent people skills, and the organisational skills to work on a series of projects at the same time.

The role sits within the wider Communications, Engagement and Public Affairs team, which is a growing and dynamic part of the organisation, involved almost every part of the HCPC's work. It also comes at an exciting time, with a new Corporate Strategy to be delivered, and some major projects on the horizon.

Your responsibilities will include
  • Maintaining the HCPC's public and patient engagement work, and ensuring feedback is collected and fed into the wider organisation
  • Identifying opportunities to raise the HCPC's profile through proactive engagement with stakeholders, events, and thought leadership initiatives
  • Administering and overseeing in-person events for the wider team
  • Setting up and managing our online webinars, workshops and a stakeholder forum
  • Representing the HCPC at external meetings and events, acting as a credible ambassador for the organisation
  • Assisting in stakeholder management, following the approach laid out in the stakeholder engagement plan
Person Specification
  • Effectively managed relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Managed multiple competing projects, including managing departmental workload
  • Set up and run events for an organisation, online and in-person (usually via MS Teams, but knowledge of other platforms also useful)
  • Acted as a credible ambassador for an organisation or individual
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a high level of tact, diplomacy and political awareness
  • Excellent organisational skills, and an ability to learn new systems and processes and carry them out effectively (such as OneDrive, our external monitoring services, and our engagement interaction log)
  • Understand the health and care sector and its regulatory environment (desirable)

The Communications, Engagement and Public Affairs department strengthens relationships with the people and organisations that matter most to our work. The team manages our corporate communication channels and delivers communications across the website, email, social media and intranet. It leads stakeholder engagement, media and PR, and internal communications and staff engagement activity.

By providing trusted information, fostering engagement and supporting meaningful dialogue, the department helps promote the organisation's role in protecting the public.
