Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a technically confident Theatre and Audio-Visual Technician to support performances, assemblies and teaching activities at a well-established secondary school in Crawley, West Sussex. You will prepare and operate equipment across performance spaces, set up microphones, projectors, displays and lighting, and maintain resources with a focus on safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in theatre production, live sound, lighting or AV support.
• Experience in schools, colleges or educational environments is advantageous.
• Familiarity with microphones, speakers, projectors and presentation systems.
• Willingness to complete safeguarding checks and school training.

Responsibilities

• Set up and test microphones, speakers, mixing equipment and other audio resources.
• Prepare projectors, screens, interactive displays and presentation systems.
• Assist with stage lighting and basic lighting-control equipment.
• Support assemblies, performances, concerts, presentations and school events.
• Work with teachers to understand technical requirements of lessons and productions.
• Check equipment before and after use and report faults promptly.
• Troubleshoot routine sound, display and connectivity issues.
• Maintain an inventory of technical equipment, cables and accessories.
• Ensure cables and equipment are positioned safely to reduce trip hazards.
• Coordinate equipment requirements with authorised staff and event organisers.
• Follow health and safety procedures and relevant risk assessments.
