Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a proactive Audio-Visual Technician for a secondary school in Braintree. You will set up and maintain AV systems, provide backstage support for lessons, assemblies, and events, and ensure safe, smooth operation of all equipment.

The role requires strong communication, technical know-how in sound, lighting, and projection, and the ability to work with teachers and students in a busy school environment. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in audio-visual technology, IT support, events production, or media services (desirable).
• Solid technical understanding of sound, lighting, and projection systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a calm approach to troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Full eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Management: Set up, operate, and maintain AV equipment, including sound systems, lighting rigs, and projection technology.
• Technical Support: Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively to minimise disruption.
• Events & Productions: Provide technical support for school performances, assemblies, presentations, and whole-school events.
• Health & Safety: Maintain high standards of health and safety, ensuring safe cabling, equipment handling, and secure storage.
• Collaboration: Work independently and alongside wider IT and support teams to meet daily needs of the school.
• Communication: Maintain a professional, approachable manner when assisting teachers, students, and external visitors.
