Job summary

Tripadvisor is seeking a Staff/Principal Product Engineer who blends deep engineering craft with strong product instincts across mobile, web, and backend. You’ll own end-to-end delivery, lead architecture reviews, and raise the technical bar across teams.

In this role you’ll partner with PMs, designers, and data to shape what we build, ensure reliable performance, and help translate business needs into scalable solutions for travelers worldwide.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software experience with hands-on coding.
• Strong mobile app depth (iOS/Android) and Swift/Kotlin fluency.
• Broad experience across web frontend, backend, data/infra, or platform tooling.

Responsibilities

• Identify, scope, and ship changes that move business metrics across mobile, web, services, and data.
• Architect long-lasting systems for performance, reliability, scalability and offline behaviour.
• Lead design reviews across teams, weighing trade-offs and product impact.
• Drive operational maturity: release management, observability, incident response, performance monitoring.
• Partner with PMs, designers, and engineers to shape what to build and why.
• Set the technical bar by prototyping, proving patterns, and teaching them.
• Communicate trade-offs clearly to engineers, product partners, and senior stakeholders.
