Job summary

Gigs in London is seeking a Senior Engineer to design and evolve cross-cutting architectures for a multi-carrier, multi-tenant platform at scale. You will drive robust, observable systems that keep pace with growth and regulatory demands.

You will raise the bar on operational excellence, mentor senior engineers, and push AI-enabled improvements across teams while delivering production code and shaping technical strategy with leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience developing, running, and maintaining distributed systems and event-driven architectures at scale.
• Strong operational instincts with focus on observability, failure modes, alerting, and graceful degradation.
• Experience navigating polyglot environments and agentic AI development.
• Track record of influencing multiple teams without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve cross-cutting architectures (event-driven systems, multi-carrier integrations, multi-tenant platform patterns) and establish governance.
• Raise the bar on operational excellence, focusing on observability, SLOs, graceful degradation, incident response, and on-call ownership.
• Find where AI changes the work and push those forward in platform and engineering practices.
• Mentor senior engineers and help define the senior IC growth path at Gigs.
• Ship production code and shape technical strategy with engineering leadership.
