Workplace Classification: Hybrid - This position does not require full-time onsite presence. Employees are expected to be onsite up to 3 times per week at our Charlotte or Austin Technical Centers.
The Team: GM’s Motorsports Software team develops innovative IT solutions for motorsports, enabling advanced interactions between GM Global Engineering, Motorsports, and Race teams to secure podium finishes in NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA sports car racing.
The Role: The Staff Software Engineer provides technical leadership and hands-on software development, focusing on scalable cloud-based systems, solution architecture, and motorsports software development, especially aerodynamics systems design.
Responsibilities include leading a team in developing GM Motorsports aero-thermal applications, designing solution architectures, ensuring code quality, collaborating across teams, and delivering projects efficiently.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's in Computer Science or related, expert experience in CFD systems, microservices, data streaming, full stack development, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), 5+ years microservices experience, 2+ years web services, containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), CI/CD, and agile methodologies.
People Skills: Critical thinking, collaborative, strong communication, and technical decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree, aerodynamics knowledge, AI/ML expertise, VR development, data streaming, cross-platform development, UI/UX, leadership, and system architecture experience, and a passion for motorsports.
