Built by a team of ex-Uber, WeWork and Amazon builders, Natter has selectively hired a team of exited founders, specialist domain experts and SaaS unicorn founding team members. They are now looking for an additional team hire: a Staff QA Engineer.

Natter is already being used by some of the world’s largest companies, ranging from big four consultancies like PwC, institutional financial services providers like Legal and General, to technology innovators like Miro.

Natter’s conversational AI platform allows tens of thousands of users to simultaneously share ideas and feedback through real-time video conversations. Its uniquely scalable tech allows anyone with a smartphone to, literally, have a say on the most important decisions - ranging from workplace strategy to new product offerings.

STAFF QA ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES

You'll be stepping into a role that offers not only technical challenges but also unparalleled ownership and autonomy to shape the innovative Natter platform...

  • Serving clients with workforces numbering tens of thousands of users, there’s a need to deliver a stable, robust and scalable platform to cope with high levels of concurrent users. This role suits someone passionate about shipping high-quality products at the cutting edge of AI innovation.

  • Act as a technical leader and subject matter expert in quality assurance practices, test automation, and tooling across the engineering team.

  • Identify systemic quality issues and process bottlenecks, proposing and leading initiatives to improve development lifecycle efficiency, test effectiveness, and overall product quality.

  • Collaborate with peers across engineering and product to define, align on, and advocate for consistent quality standards, best practices, and effective testing approaches.

  • Pioneer and champion the adoption of new testing tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance quality practices and team productivity.

  • Keep a high bar for technical excellence in the collective, through your own work, highlighting the work of others and calling out when things haven’t quite met the bar.

  • Foster a culture of quality within your collective. Proactively championing measures to test work, and gets buy-in from stakeholders when this is not appreciated.

What you’ll be using:

  • Typescript & Playwright to write and maintain our end-to-end tests

  • Qase to manage our test case suite

  • Github & Gitlab for source control

  • Sentry & Datadog for metrics & monitoring

  • AWS for our production and staging environments

We’d love to hear from you if…

  • You have 5+ years' experience in software quality assurance, with a proven track record in senior or lead roles driving quality initiatives

  • You have deep expertise in designing, building, and maintaining scalable test automation frameworks

  • You are proficient with modern CI/CD pipelines and understand how to integrate automated testing effectively

  • You’re comfortable working in a team that deals with ambiguity and have experience helping your team resolve that ambiguity

  • You have a track record of technical excellence, delivering resilient systems, ideally behind consumer products

Desirable

  • Previous experience testing high-performant, high-load frontend applications

  • Previous experience in a Software Development role

  • Experience testing an application relying heavily on event-driven architecture

  • Expertise in Performance Engineering and tools: Beyond just running tests, understanding profiling & bottleneck analysis

  • Experience in and enjoyment of early stage/startup environments

Our interview process involves four main stages after an informal recruiter call:

  • 30 min screening interview

  • Offline take-home exercise / assessment

  • Live interview & review of take-home exercise

  • Final stage 30 min chat with the CEO
