Job summary

Metrea is seeking a dynamic Staff QA Engineer to join our Digital and Synthetic Group, building software solutions that provide geospatial data processing and visualisations. You will collaborate with Product Managers and Software Engineers to drive quality across the development lifecycle.

The role emphasises hands-on testing, test strategy leadership, and mentoring, in a fast-moving, office-based environment with travel to other Metrea offices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software development and / or QA testing.
• Experience testing web, Windows desktop, and command line applications.
• Experience leading and defining test strategy for complex products and projects.
• Enthusiasm for team delivery in an Agile environment.
• Drive to learn constantly and further your knowledge.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Shift-left testing mindset and willingness to engage across the full lifecycle of user stories.
• Ability to upskill less experienced QA Engineers.
• Great interpersonal skills and clear communication with technical and non-technical teammates.

Responsibilities

• Refine user stories from a testing perspective.
• Define test strategy for complex products and projects.
• Clarify acceptance criteria with product and engineering.
• Scope and write test cases.
• Estimate test effort for user stories.
• Execute manual software tests.
• Define and execute the team’s test strategy.
• Create and maintain test plans and documentation.
• Create and maintain automation scripts.
• Support testers and developers with broader system testing.
• Champion Quality Engineering best practices.
• Coordinate and collaborate with testers across teams.
