Job description

Overview

As part of our continued expansion and transition towards high-volume manufacturing, we have a new opportunity at Pragmatic for an outstanding Product Engineer to join our growing Operations function.

Reporting to the Director - Yield and Product Engineering, you will be responsible for all Product Engineering activities in our 300mm fab in Durham. The role involves developing wafer-level (CP/WS) and die-level functional test methodologies, designing hardware and software solutions for volume production, data analysis, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and performance.

You will lead efforts in improving test coverage, yield, and product quality, support new product introductions (NPI), prototype validation, and customer satisfaction. We seek candidates with excellent communication skills and technical expertise.

Key tasks
  • Design and develop chip test methodologies, including hardware schematics, layout, software test flows, and programs.
  • Work with Yield and Test Engineers to calibrate, analyze data, and improve hardware/software performance.
  • Collaborate with Design and Test teams to define validation plans, test limits, and specifications; validate hardware and test programs through analysis from NPI to ramp-up.
  • Participate in chip functional testing, characterization, and qualification for NPI products; support hardware builds and test program development.
  • Support DFM, DFR, DFT strategies, and device modeling to improve testability and reduce costs.
  • Evaluate customer return parts at various testing levels; perform failure analysis and drive continuous improvements to meet quality targets.
Qualifications and training
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electronics, Microelectronics, Semiconductor, or related field (essential)
  • Master’s Degree preferred
Skills and experience
  • Product Engineering experience in high-volume wafer fabs, foundries, ATE test houses, or chip assembly plants (essential)
  • Understanding of IC circuit and design flow (essential)
  • Knowledge of chip test hardware and software design (essential)
  • Strong data analysis skills using semiconductor analysis software (essential)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork (essential)
  • Yield or Test Engineering experience (desirable)
  • Familiarity with chip qualification standards like JEDEC (desirable)
  • Experience with data analysis tools like PDF/Exensio/FDC, yieldHUB, etc. (desirable)
