Job summary

Astronomer seeks a Staff+-level engineer to build foundational systems for Astro, Observe, and IDE at scale. You will shape platform infrastructure, write both strategy and code, and drive multi-cloud, production-grade solutions across a complex estate.

You will own architecture decisions, document thoroughly, and collaborate in a globally distributed team to deliver reliable, scalable infrastructure with strong Go, Kubernetes, and multi-cloud expertise.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and operating large-scale platform systems.
• Strong Go proficiency with production-grade Go development.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, and/or Azure.
• Proven ability to write design docs and postmortems.
• Experience working in globally distributed teams.
• Track record of building infrastructure at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own and shape platform infrastructure strategy across multi-cloud environments.
• Write the strategy and the code, delivering scalable foundation systems.
• Collaborate with engineers to design, implement and maintain core platform services.
• Engage in architectural forums, create comprehensive internal docs and decision records.
