Job summary

Fanatics is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Platform team in the UK. This role blends hands-on coding with system design to shape a highly available, low-latency exchange platform.

You will lead infrastructure evolution, drive AI-assisted development practices, and set standards across teams while mentoring engineers. You will work with Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform and observability tools, balancing performance, security and cost as the platform grows.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading complex technical projects and delivering production software.
• Ability to independently design, build, test and deploy services from scratch.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native infrastructure and reliability engineering.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, latency, availability and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of tools, services and automation for infrastructure, reliability and developer experience.
• Define architecture for cloud-native infrastructure balancing performance, security and cost.
• Guide CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling with hands-on delivery improvements.
• Build load-testing environments, mock services and integrations.
• Establish AI-augmented development standards and validation practices.
• Identify AI-generated code risks and ensure secure, robust outputs.
• Shape platform security safeguards and compliance.
• Own observability roadmap including monitoring and tracing improvements.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leads to deliver scalable solutions.
• Mentor engineers, lead design discussions and raise engineering standards.
• Participate in on-call rotation and drive incident prevention.
