Job summary

Fanatics is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team based in the UK or Ireland. This role is essential for overseeing the platforms that power Fanatics Betting & Gaming’s software ecosystem. Responsibilities include driving technical design, architecting cloud-native platforms on AWS, and mentoring engineers. Candidates should have over 8 years of experience in related fields and proficiency in Python and Java, with strong Kubernetes and CI/CD knowledge. This position may require periodic travel to the United States and occasional travel within the UK and Ireland.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or software engineering.
• Proficiency with Python and Java; familiarity with Kotlin or Go is a plus.
• Experience operating distributed, high-availability systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical design and delivery of core platform capabilities.
• Architect and operate cloud-native platforms on AWS focusing on reliability.
• Mentor engineers and participate in on-call rotations.

Skills

Platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or software engineering experience

Proficiency with Python and Java

Deep Kubernetes knowledge

CI/CD and GitOps experience

Infrastructure as Code expertise (Terraform)

Strong AWS and cloud-native experience

Ability to influence without authority
