Job summary

Fanatics Betting & Gaming seeks a Staff Platform Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team, based in the UK or Ireland. You will own and drive core platform initiatives across cloud, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and internal tooling to empower developers globally.

You will lead architecture choices, ensure reliability and security at scale, and mentor engineers while collaborating with teams across regions; some cross-region coordination and on-call involvement are expected.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or software engineering.
• Proficiency with Python and Java; familiarity with Kotlin, Go.
• Deep Kubernetes and container orchestration knowledge.
• Proven CI/CD and GitOps experience.
• Infrastructure as Code expertise (Terraform).
• Strong AWS and cloud-native experience.
• Experience operating distributed, high-availability systems.
• Ability to influence without authority and communicate across regions.

Responsibilities

• Drive design and delivery of core platform capabilities across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, Observability, CI/CD, and developer tooling.
• Architect, build, and operate cloud-native platforms on AWS with reliability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Lead evolution of CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows.
• Build and maintain internal platform services and tooling to improve developer experience and velocity.
• Continue Infrastructure as Code and automation practices across teams.
• Partner with application teams to unblock delivery and align platform capabilities with developer needs.
• Participate in complex cross-team initiatives and provide technical clarity in ambiguous problems.
• Improve operational excellence through observability, automation, and incident response.
• Mentor engineers and participate in on-call rotations.
