Job summary

Fanatics Betting & Gaming is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team based in the UK or Ireland. This role partners with teams across the UK, Ireland, and the US to build and operate the platforms that power our global software ecosystem.

As a Staff Engineer you will lead complex technical initiatives across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD systems, and internal developer tooling, influencing architecture and standards while boosting reliability,

Qualifications

• 8+ years in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or software engineering.
• Proficiency with Python and Java. Kotlin, Go a plus.
• Deep Kubernetes and container orchestration knowledge.
• Proven CI/CD and GitOps experience.
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Strong AWS and cloud-native experience.
• Experience operating distributed, high-availability systems.
• Ability to influence without authority and communicate across regions.

Responsibilities

• Drive design and delivery of core platform capabilities: cloud infra, Kubernetes, observability, CI/CD, tooling.
• Build and operate cloud-native platforms on AWS with focus on reliability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Lead evolution of CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows.
• Maintain internal platform services and tooling to improve developer experience and velocity.
• Promote Infrastructure as Code and automation across teams.
• Partner with application teams to unblock delivery and align platform capabilities with needs.
• Lead cross-team initiatives and provide clarity in ambiguous spaces.
• Improve operational excellence through observability, automation, and incident response.
• Mentor engineers and participate in on-call rotations.
