Job summary

Altos Labs in Cambridge, UK seeks an experienced platform software engineer to lead design, development, and maintenance of the Altos Agentic AI Platform. You will build and manage agentic compute systems used by scientists for cutting-edge research, collaborating with engineers, researchers, and IT to ensure scalable, secure, and efficient systems.

Responsibilities include deploying AI-enabled apps, securing access, managing Kubernetes clusters, and optimizing compute and costs.

Qualifications

• BS in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in cloud infrastructure, devsecops, or systems platform engineering.
• 3+ years designing microservices and managing Kubernetes production infra.
• 2+ years using AI-assisted software development methods.
• Experience with AWS IaC and orchestration tools (Python, Ruby, Bash).
• Proven infra for GenAI/LLM, AI agents, and high-volume events.
• Strong monitoring, FinOps practices and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement platform tech to deploy and monitor AI-enabled scientific apps.
• Design and enforce authentication, authorization across apps.
• Operate resilient Kubernetes clusters in production.
• Enable dynamic compute autoscaling for workloads.
• Manage service mesh, mTLS, and secure inter-service communication.
• Support MCP/LLM proxies for hundreds of agentic tools.
• Build systems for scientists to create AI-enabled solutions.
• Improve performance and resource utilization.
• Drive cloud financial operations improvements.
• Automate testing, CI/CD, and documentation upkeep.
