Job summary

Anthropic is seeking Software Engineers to join the Observability team within the Infrastructure organization. The role focuses on building high-throughput telemetry pipelines, tracing, profiling, and analytics to improve reliability for research and product systems.

You will own core observability platforms, implement auto-instrumentation with eBPF and SDKs, and partner with cross-functional teams to meet unique organizational needs. Hybrid work policy applies, with time in the office required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and operating large-scale observability infrastructure.
• End-to-end signal handling from instrumentation through ingest to analysis.
• Comfort digging below application layer into kernel, network, or hardware.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable telemetry ingest and storage pipelines for metrics, logs, traces, and error data across Anthropic's multi-cluster infrastructure.
• Build observability solutions that give engineers deep, low-overhead visibility into system behavior across the fleet.
• Own and evolve core observability platforms, driving migrations and architectural improvements that improve reliability, reduce cost, and scale with growth.
• Build instrumentation libraries, SDKs, and eBPF-based auto-instrumentation to emit high-quality telemetry, with and without code changes.
• Reduce MTTA by enabling cross-signal correlation—from kernel events to application traces—via unified query interfaces and AI-assisted tooling.
• Drive fleet-wide efficiency by turning profiling and utilization telemetry into actionable insights across CPU, memory, and accelerators.
• Partner with Research, Inference, Product, and Infrastructure teams to tailor observability solutions to needs.
