Job summary

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 5 Staff Nurse for the Surgical Assessment Unit. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients referred from ED, GPs, and other sources, within a fast-paced Same Day Emergency Care service.

You will work as part of a team, develop clinical competencies, and contribute to an evolving service that places patient-centred care at its heart.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing/Health studies.
• NMC Registration and ongoing professional development.
• Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
• Non-medical prescriber where applicable.
• IT skills to support clinical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Take clinical responsibility for patients within your allocated area of work.
• Continuously assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment using appropriate care programs.

Staff Nurse - Surgical Assessment Unit

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our friendly Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU). This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the emergency surgical team at a pivotal time, as we continue to develop and expand our Same Day Emergency Care service for patients referred from a variety of sources, including the Emergency Department and GPs.

As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, safe, compassionate, effective & inclusive care to patients attending the Surgical Assessment Unit. You will work as part of a larger team to assess, monitor, and support patients throughout their attendance, ensuring excellent patient experience and outcomes.

Working within SAU provides a varied and rewarding environment, offering opportunities to develop a broad range of clinical skills. As part of your role, you will be required to complete and achieve sign-off of the relevant clinical competencies.

Main duties of the job

To deliver a high standard of nursing care to patients receiving medical treatment. The post holders will be responsible for patient care needs, and implementation and evaluation of the procedure / interventions. The post holders are required to work as part of a team committed to delivering and improving a high standard and efficient nursing care within South Warwickshire University Foundation Trust.

Clinical

Take clinical responsibility for patients within your allocated area of work

Continuously assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment, using appropriate programmes/methods of care
