Job summary

Priory Hospital Market Weighton is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join our level 2 rehabilitation service for adult men. The post involves assessing patient needs, writing and reviewing care plans, and leading ward operations while coordinating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires active NMC registration as an RMN, completion of a preceptorship, and a minimum of six months post-registration experience. DBS check is covered by Priory.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred mental health nursing care with patients, families and carers.
• Act as Named Nurse, assess needs and develop/review care plans.

• Coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team to deliver effective patient care.
• Prioritise and delegate nursing duties and take charge of the ward when required.
• Support safe medication management.
• Deliver care in line with safeguarding, Mental Health Act and related requirements.

Job description

This is a full-time Staff Nurse post at Priory Hospital Market Weighton, a level 2 rehabilitation hospital for adult men. The work centres on assessing patients' needs, writing and reviewing care plans, and monitoring progress, while taking charge of the ward and delegating duties when needed. Patients follow individual therapy programmes aimed at living skills and community integration, with links to community services to plan discharge. Applicants need active NMC registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse and a completed preceptorship.

What the job involves

• Provide person-centred mental health nursing care, working closely with patients, families and carers
• Act as Named Nurse, assessing needs, developing and reviewing care plans and monitoring progress
• Observe patients and respond to changes in their presentation, needs and risks
• Work with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate and deliver effective patient care
• Prioritise and delegate nursing duties, taking charge of the ward when required and keeping a safe care environment
• Support the safe management of medication
• Deliver care in line with safeguarding, mental health, Mental Capacity Act and DoLS requirements

Qualifications

• Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)

Skills & knowledge

• Good knowledge of NMC guidelines and professional practice
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
