Job summary

Priory Hospital Preston is seeking a registered mental health nurse to join its four wards serving adults with acute mental health needs and eating disorders. The role centers on person-centred care, risk assessment, care planning and medication administration within a multidisciplinary team.

The post is a full-time, 37.5-hour week, with responsibilities to deliver assessments, supervise care, support activities and recovery goals, and maintain safe, therapeutic wards.

Qualifications

• Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with valid NMC registration.
• Deliver person-centred nursing care throughout each patient's recovery.
• Complete assessments, care plans, risk assessments and clinical records, reviewed regularly.
• Administer medication safely and monitor physical and mental health.
• Work with the MDT, patients and families on treatment plans.

Priory Hospital Preston, a 50-bed adult mental health hospital, has a registered mental health nurse vacancy across its four wards, which treat adults with acute mental health needs and eating disorders. The post centres on person-centred nursing care, risk assessment, care planning, medication administration and working alongside the multidisciplinary team. It is a full-time role of 37.5 hours a week, and the service brings patients back from out-of-area placements. Candidates must hold a valid NMC registration.

What the job involves

• Deliver person-centred nursing care throughout each patient's recovery

• Administer medication safely and monitor physical and mental health
• Work with the MDT, patients and families on treatment plans

• Recognise changes in patients' presentation and escalat? concerns
• Help keep the ward safe, supportive and therapeutic

Registration & licences

• Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with valid NMC registration

Experience

• Delivering safe, person-centred care in a mental health setting

Skills & knowledge

• Understanding of risk assessment, care planning and medication management
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Checks & eligibility

• Successful disclosure at an appropriate level (DBS, Access NI or Disclosure Scotland)
