Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a newly qualified or current Band 5 children’s nurse to join the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PCCU) at Leeds Children’s Hospital. You will work within a 14 PICU and 6 HDU bedded unit, delivering specialist paediatric critical care alongside an experienced MDT.

We are looking for a newly qualified or current Band 5 children's nurse to join our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PCCU) at Leeds Children's Hospital.
At Leeds, we care for critically ill children from a wide range of specialties including cardiac, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), liver, medical, oncology, renal, surgery, neuro and trauma. This provides a unique opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills within a specialist paediatric critical care environment.
We are a 14 PICU and 6 HDU bedded unit with a friendly, dedicated and experienced team delivering paediatric and cardiac intensive care and high dependency care.
Working alongside experienced nurses and a wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT), you will deliver high quality intensive and HDU nursing care to critically ill children.
Working within the intensive care environment allows you the opportunity to provide focused, individualised care whilst working closely with children and their families during some of the most important moments of their lives.

What you will bring to the roleThe role is to provide and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised family centred, infant, child or young person focused programmes of care. You will deliver care without supervision and take responsibility as the prime care provider for a PICU and HDU patients and at all times promote confidence in our commitment to provide excellent compassionate family centred, infant, child or young person focused patient care.
You will participate in the in-service training, preceptorship and mentorship of junior staff, post basic learners and students as well as maintaining your personal development.
Leeds Children’s Hospital is a large secondary and tertiary hospital providing a wide range of specialities to the population of Leeds as well as the wider North Region. The jobholder will work within an environment caring for infants/neonates, children and or young people in providing child or young person focused care.
