Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 Ward Lead for J14 on an Older Adult Medical Ward in Leeds. You will oversee ward staff, work with the MDT, and drive high-quality, patient-centered care for an acutely ill older population.

Applicants should have at least 12 months at Band 5 in an acute setting, be committed to professional development, and adhere to NMC guidelines. Contact Rose Webster for more information and ward visits.

Qualifications

  • Must hold NMC registration and be eligible to practice as a nurse in the UK.
  • Minimum of 12 months experience at Band 5 in an acute setting.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centred care.
  • Ability to lead and develop ward staff and liaise with MDT.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ward staff and work with the MDT across Specialty Integrated Medicine.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-focused care in line with LTHT guidelines.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and uphold safety standards.
  • Participate in audits, education and programme development.
  • In the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse, take charge of the ward activities.

Job description

Join SIM (Specialty Integrated Medicine) at LTHT we have an exciting chance for a Band 6 role within one of the Older adult medical wards. Ward J14 is currently a 24 bedded ward, accommodating a combination of female and male patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for leading the ward staff and working closely in collaboration with the MDT across Specialty Integrated Medicine. J14 provides a great standard of quality care for all our patients and we are looking for highly skilled nurses to continue the fantastic work that J14 has already achieved in caring for our older population in Leeds so we are looking for a enthusiastic and dynamic individual with the capability to empower a team whilst remaining patient centered. Applicants will be expected to practice effectively & delivery excellent care in a timely manner to our patient group. A commitment to personal professional development is essential with the promise from the managing team that we are dedicated to developing our workforce. Candidates are required to have a least 12 months experience at Band 5 level and have substantial acute nursing background with experience in caring for patients in an acute setting. What you will bring to the role

Acts in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct. Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information. Maintain and deliver compassionate patient focused care in accordance with LTHT guidelines, policies, values and behaviours. Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring documentation standards are upheld in accordance with NMC and LTHT guidelines, whether written or computerised. Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of patients. Promote evidence based practice. Participate in the audit and evaluation of clinical practice in the interests of promoting and improving quality care through action on findings. Undertake duties on other wards or departments as and when required by service demands or patient need. Act in such a way that safeguards the health and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults at all times. Is familiar with and adheres to, the LTHT safeguarding policies. Contribute to the promotion of a positive clinical learning environment. Keep up to date with developments, advances and research in individualised patient care. Participate in research and or education programmes relating to professional nursing issues and practice. In the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse take charge of the ward or department and co-ordinate ward or department activities.
