Job description

The post holder will be responsible for direct patient care in the ophthalmic theatre setting. This includes scrubbing and circulating for all ophthalmic major and minor cases in the integrated ophthalmic unit.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assess individual care needs, develop, plan, implement, and evaluate care programs to meet patient needs, and undertake all forms of care within the clinical environment.
  2. Liaise with multidisciplinary staff regarding patient care and equipment relevant to care.
  3. Maintain accurate and timely patient records and documentation, ensuring confidentiality.
  4. Uphold the Trust’s dignity and respect standards – First Impressions.
  5. Ensure care provided is appropriate and aligns with clinical guidelines.
  6. Use professional judgment to analyze patient conditions and act appropriately.
  7. Maintain high standards of patient care through personal example and professional conduct.
  8. Promote safeguarding of vulnerable patients in line with policies.
  9. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary team members involved in the care of critically ill patients and their families, including involvement in major trauma or death cases.
  10. Support the multidisciplinary theatre team in the overall management of patients attending for ophthalmic surgery, ensuring high-quality standards of care are maintained.
