NMC UK pin

Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

Requirements: You must have a live NMC UK pin to be considered for this post.

This is a permanent, full-time position of 37 hours per week. The shift pattern is rotational, including days, nights, and 12-hour shifts, with an opportunity for a 7-hour shift pattern.

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join the team at Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit within our High Dependency Ward at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. As a vital part of our national spinal injuries team, you will deliver high-quality, clinically effective patient care. The role involves managing a varied caseload, including care for patients in the acute stage of spinal injury and supporting rehabilitation when required. This position offers a chance to develop your skills and experience within a supportive, multidisciplinary team.

We seek enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 registered nurses to join our existing National Spinal Injuries team. All staff will be supported by our dedicated Educator for Spinal Injuries and will receive in-house training and competencies to perform extended roles relevant to spinal management, such as supra-pubic catheterisation, male catheterisation, tracheostomy care, specialist bowel management, and respiratory care for ventilated patients. The unit comprises Edenhall Ward, a 12-bed High Dependency & ward, and Philipshill Ward, a 32-bed Spinal Injuries Rehabilitation Ward with an integrated High Acuity Respiratory Care Unit.

This unit is part of the pilot for Digital Clinical Notes, offering an innovative opportunity to be involved in digital health advancements within NHSGGC.

We offer 12-hour shifts with flexibility for 7.5-hour shifts over a 24/7 service. There is also potential to rotate through Spinal Injuries, other acute areas, and specialties to broaden and develop your skills.

Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to patient-centered care, ongoing professional development, and an understanding of our service and patient needs, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
