Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking Registered Nurses/ODPs with a keen interest in perioperative care to join the theatre team. A live NMC PIN is required; you will deliver high quality patient care across Neurosurgical, Oral Maxillofacial, and Neuro-interventional procedures.

We offer a rotational development program, supported by a dedicated Perioperative Educator, and extensive learning opportunities for ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

  • First Level Registered Nurse registered with the NMC or ODP registered with the HCPC with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience.
  • Educated to degree level is desirable
  • Evidence of continuing professional development is essential
  • Post registration qualification/significant relevant experience in specialty is desirable
  • Ability to fulfil criteria outlined in the job description.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Practice within the legal & Ethical framework as established by NMC and National Legislation to ensure patient interests and wellbeing are met.
  • Work within NHS, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and HSE legislation and procedures.
  • Empower patients to participate in decisions about their care with information to support them.
  • Provide clinical leadership for assessing patient needs and implementing programs of person-centred care.

We are interested in hearing from Registered ODP's/Nurses with a keen interest in perioperative care. As an essential part of our Theatre team, you'll deliver high quality, clinically effective patient care at all times. We can offer you a varied surgical caseload due to our extensive Neurosurgical, Oral Maxillofacial, and Neuro‑interventional radiology procedures that will help you develop your capabilities and experience and you'll enjoy the real respect, rapport and effective working of a close‑knit, highly skilled, multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for Registered Nurses/ODPs who demonstrate a commitment to undertake ongoing in‑service training and development, which is fully supported by our dedicated Perioperative Clinical Educator. We offer excellent opportunities for personal development, for example, for newly qualified nurses we can offer a rotational program through our theatre suite, with an established supportive education program.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
  • Location based in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
  • Shift pattern for this post are Monday to Sunday – early/late shift, weekends, on call
  • Permanent Contract
  • Full‑time Position (36 hours per week)
Key responsibilities:

  • Work within the National Health Service (NHS), NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) Legislation, Policy, Guidelines and Procedures.
  • Empower patients to take responsibility for their health, well‑being and future lifestyle by practising in an open transparent and inclusive manner, thereby ensuring patients have the relevant information to participate in decisions about their care
  • Practice within the legal & Ethical framework as established by Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) and National Legislation to ensure patient interests and wellbeing are met.
  • Work within the National Health Service (NHS), NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) Legislation, Policy, Guidelines and Procedures.

Utilising all available resources taking into consideration the lifestyle, gender and cultural background and ensure involvement with the patient, family, carers and significant others.
