Here is your chance to be part of the new and expanding High Dependency Unit within the Adult Critical Care setting. A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to be part of the delivery of world-class healthcare.

Our HDU cares for patients following a variety of complex cardiothoracic and cardiovascular procedures.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has excellent care values and a strong sense of team spirit to lead a team of nurses to deliver high-quality care.

You must be able to work a combination of long days, night shifts, and weekends to meet the demands of the service.

Main duties of the job:

  1. Assess, plan, provide, and evaluate skilled evidence-based care for critically ill Level 2 patients, ensuring quality care and patient safety are paramount.
  2. Support and develop colleagues by mentoring and assessing their skills.
  3. Promote practice development within High Dependency.
  4. Fulfil local/trust requirements in specified audit or project work.
  5. Maintain a safe working environment, complying with Health and Safety regulations, Environmental Health Act, and attending mandatory training.
  6. Provide skilled support to medical staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Person specification:

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN1) with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of UK
  • Degree or equivalent in relevant field of study
  • Intravenous accreditation
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Preparation for mentorship course or equivalent
  • Evidence of professional development, e.g., acute care skills training

Experience:

  • Previous acute ward experience
  • Experience in caring for acutely unwell patients or Level 2 patients or equivalent

Knowledge:

  • Full understanding of the NMC The Code: professional standards (2015) and revalidation process to maintain professional registration
  • Ability to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care according to individual needs
  • Knowledge of current healthcare issues
  • Preparation for mentorship course or equivalent
