This is a permanent, full-time position of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of 12-hour days and nights.
An exciting opportunity for a Band 5 registered nurse to join our enthusiastic surgical nursing team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Are you interested in working in a surgical ward environment where you can gain diverse experience and skills in general surgical specialties?
Glasgow Royal Infirmary is a tertiary referral center where you will encounter patients requiring complex pancreatic, colorectal, upper GI, bariatric, and sarcoma surgeries, referred from surrounding health boards across Scotland. You will work with a unique patient population and collaborate with a dedicated nutrition team managing patients with intestinal failure requiring Parenteral Nutrition (PN) and Enteral Nutrition. This setting offers diverse development opportunities and a chance to enhance your knowledge and skills in surgical specialties.
You will be supported by experienced nurses, clinical nurse specialists, and the multidisciplinary team to deliver essential nursing care. We also collaborate with the Beatson Cancer Charity to support patients through their treatment journey. You will care for patients on the Enhanced Recovery pathway and those with prolonged stays in critical care.
Our ward environment includes five wards: two 30-bed wards (ward 65 and 66), a 12-bed Elective Surgical Ward, and ward 65 (30 beds).
This specialty environment fosters pride in providing high-standard care, making this role ideal for motivated nurses interested in surgical specialties.
Previous experience is advantageous, preferably with an interest in Surgical Nursing.
The shift pattern is rotational, involving a mix of Early, Late, and 12-hour shifts.
Part-time hours will be considered.
