Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a Staff Nurse (Cath Lab Day Unit) on a part-time basis. The role supports a wide range of cardiovascular and thoracic day-case admissions, with open hours 07:15–21:00, Monday to Friday.

You will care for patients through admission, pre/post procedure care, GA recovery and nurse-led discharge, in a MDT setting, with training provided in cardiology, vascular, IR and thoracic specialties.

Qualifications

• Qualified Nurse with Degree or Diploma in nursing.
• Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register.
• Knowledge of infection control and personal accountability.

Responsibilities

• Promote high standards of nursing care within the cath lab day unit.
• Care for patients undergoing cardiology, vascular, IR and thoracic procedures, including pre/post-procedure care.
• Support nurse-led discharge and GA recovery within a MDT.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a highly motivated, experienced Nurse to join the cardiac catheter lab day unit. The Cath Lab Day Unit is open from 07:15 to 21:00, Monday to Friday, and supports a wide range of cardiovascular and thoracic day case admissions, through recovery and nurse led discharge.

This is a part-time position. The successful candidate will be expected to work a range of shifts to meet the needs of the service.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

In this role, your key responsibilities will include;

You will work as part of a MDT and will be responsible for promoting high standards of nursing care which requires good communication to assist with the elective patient journey through the catheter labs and theatres. You will be caring for a range of patients undergoing a wide variety of procedures from admission, pre and post procedure care, GA recovery, and nurse led discharge. This will include cardiology, vascular, IR and thoracic patients and full training will be given in these specialities.

The cardiac catheter lab and day unit is committed to education, and you will have the opportunity to attend the in-house Introduction to Cardiovascular Nursing course in addition to the opportunity to attend national conferences relating to Cardiology.
