Job summary

NHS Borders invites applications for a Band 5 Staff Nurse in the Intensive Therapy Unit at Borders General Hospital. The post is a permanent role working 28.75 hours in a busy 9-bed combined ICU/HDU that cares for level 1–3 patients.

You will be supported to develop skills in Critical Care, with access to the National Critical Care step competency programme and opportunities to undertake related courses during your development within a dynamic multidisciplinary team.

NHS Borders would like to offer you the opportunity to join our skilled, dynamic and innovative multidisciplinary Critical Care Team.

The unit is a combined 9 bedded Intensive Care and High Dependency unit which accommodates level 1, level 2 and level 3 patients. We flex beds and patient levels depending on capacity and acuity.

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurse to provide a high standard of care to patients within a challenging, yet supportive acute hospital setting.

Having a desire to work and develop skills in Critical Care, the post holder will be provided with exciting learning opportunities both clinical and educational to help you develop and grow. You will be supported to complete the National Critical Care step competency programme and will be given the opportunity to undertake a critical care course alongside this.
