The NHS is seeking a Band 5 Nurse to coordinate the Outpatient Department in Windsor. This role involves delivering patient-focused care, mentoring staff, and maintaining high standards in a dynamic clinical environment. Flexibility in working patterns is essential as the service operates weekdays and weekends.
Job summary
The post holder will play a pivotal role in coordinating specific Outpatient Department (OPD) areas, ensuring a consistent and visible clinical presence to support the senior team in the day-to-day operational management of the departments.
Key responsibilities include delivering high-quality, patient-focused clinical care, mentoring and supporting students, learners, junior, and temporary staff, and upholding the standards set by the Frimley Health Strategy, Vision, and Values.
The position requires flexibility, with a typical working pattern of four shifts per week between 08:00 and 18:00. The service currently operates Monday to Saturday, with Sunday opening planned in the near future.
Main duties of the jobYou will provide focused, integrated clinical care under the direction of Registered Nurses (RNs), the Nurse in Charge (NiC), and the Senior Team, supporting the daily running of the Outpatient Department (OPD). A visible clinical presence is essential, working within the Frimley Health competency framework to deliver high standards of evidence-based care, treatment, and procedures aligned with patient needs and scope of practice.
You will support students, junior, and temporary staff, promoting learning while maintaining patient safety and care quality. A strong understanding of infection control principles is required, including participation in hand hygiene audits, adherence to aseptic technique, and compliance with all Frimley Health infection prevention policies.
You will ensure all activity complies with Trust and OPD guidelines, including policies on consent, chaperoning, the WHO surgical safety checklist, COSHH, and Information Governance. Working collaboratively with the RN, NiC, and multidisciplinary team, you will help coordinate safe and timely discharges following procedures and maintain excellent communication to support seamless patient care.
