Job summary

The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Swindon is seeking a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) team. You will provide specialist nursing support across pre-operative assessment, admissions and discharges, and assist with procedures under local and general anaesthesia, sedation, and inhalation sedation.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in outpatient clinics, orthodontics and day surgery lists, maintaining high standards of care,

Qualifications

• Current NMC registration as a qualified nurse.
• Experience in OMFS or outpatient nursing desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation per department policy.
• Ensure compliance with Fire, Major Incident, Infection Control and Health & Safety policies.
• Report any undue occurrences to the Sister/Charge Nurse or Directorate Manager.
• Provide and coordinate specialist OMFS nursing care in outpatient, day surgery and related settings.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) team. You will provide specialist nursing support across nurse-led pre-operative assessment, admissions and discharges, assist with procedures undertaken under local anaesthetic, general anaesthetic, sedation and inhalation sedation. We are looking for a motivated, patient-focused Registered Nurse with excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality care. Previous OMFS experience is desirable or working in an outpatient environment. You will help to provide/co-ordinate the specialists nursing care of patients and contribute to the continuing development of nursing within the Oral Surgery/Orthodontic Department. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be involved in the efficient running of Oral Surgery Outpatients clinics, Orthodontics and Day Surgery lists within the Department This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist skills within a supportive multidisciplinary team while contributing to safe, effective, and compassionate patient care.,

• To maintain accurate, comprehensive and up to date documentation and record data according to Departmental policy.
• To ensure knowledge of and compliance with the policies and plans for Fire, Major Incident, Control of Infection and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
• To report to the Sister/Charge Nurse, Senior Nurse or Directorate Manager, any undue occurrence that may be either witnessed or reported.
• To be an effective practitioner with the ability to develop clinical expertise in the care of patients in the outpatient setting and to ensure that due attention is paid to the needs of relatives and friends of patients in the Department.
