Job summary

NHS Scotland is seeking a Staff Nurse (Band 5) for Uist and Barra Hospital on Benbecula. The post is permanent and 0.83 hours per week, with a Distant Islands Allowance of £1,461 pro rata per annum.

The role offers an opportunity to work in a remote community hospital providing acute and long-stay inpatient care, 24-hour A&E and outpatient services, with a strong emphasis on developing practice and maintaining high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
• Post-registration experience in medical/acute care is desirable but not essential.
• Flexible team approach and collaborative mindset are important.

Responsibilities

• Provide acute and long-stay inpatient care at Uist and Barra Hospital.
• Support 24-hour A&E and outpatient services as part of the care team.
• Demonstrate professional communication with patients, relatives and colleagues.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff nurse in the Uist and Barra Community Hospital on the Island of Benbecula. The hospital is situated in the Outer Hebrides on the North West coast of Scotland and serves the local community. It provides acute and long stay inpatient care for 16-20 patients along with a 24-hour A&E and outpatients service. The work can be unpredictable and varied offering continuous opportunities to develop practice on an island offering an exceptional work/life balance.

Suitable candidates should have good communication skills and be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with a flexible team approach. Post registration experience in medical and acute care is desirable but not essential.
