Job summary

Motorway, the UK's largest online car-selling platform, seeks a Staff Frontend Engineer to lead technically across frontend squads. You will drive the TS/React stack (Next.js, SCSS) and guide AI-enabled frontend through Kiro integration, while shaping product strategy and engineering standards.

You will mentor engineers, own API contracts, and orchestrate migrations, deployment, and performance improvements across web properties with a strong emphasis on security and reliability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in frontend practice leading large web projects.
• Bridge engineering and product priorities with sound technical decisions.
• Technical authority in frontend with modern CSS/SCSS and ECMAScript.
• Experience with unit and E2E tests and CI workflows.
• Deep TS and React knowledge, SSR with Next.js, and familiarity with further AI tooling.

Responsibilities

• Ship features end to end and own meaningful pieces of product work.
• Author API contracts and maintain a technical department roadmap.
• Drive consistency, migrations and adoption of new framework features.
• Set security, reliability, and incident readiness standards.
• Own build and deployment stories and evaluate hosting decisions.
• Develop IC3 engineers into technical leaders and foster ownership culture.
• Lead AI-assisted engineering using Kiro and integrate AI into workflows.
