Job summary

IG Group in London is seeking a Staff Engineer to push AI across Brokerage Services engineering. You’ll own design, testing, deployment, and observability of AI-enabled tooling, influencing multiple teams and ensuring responsible AI use.

You will mentor engineers, drive automation, and collaborate with security/compliance to protect data while advancing AI-driven development at scale.

Qualifications

• Senior or staff-level engineer with proven track record
• Deep experience in backend service ecosystems and shared architecture
• Strong practice in test-driven development and pair programming
• Experience automating manual steps and workflows
• Experience evaluating/building with LLM-based developer tools

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain internal tooling that embeds AI into day-to-day engineering work
• Build observability into the AI-assisted pipeline and monitor its performance
• Identify and automate manual steps in coding, testing, and release processes
• Deliver in small, releasable increments and iterate continuously
• Collaborate with product owners to ground work in real delivery
• Drive AI adoption and improve ways of working across teams
• Evaluate, pilot, and roll out AI tooling safely within CI/CD and Jira/Confluence/GitLab environments
• Set standards for responsible AI use in the SDLC and data handling
• Mentor engineers across Brokerage Services on AI tooling and best practices
• Work with security/compliance to meet regulatory data-handling requirements
• Define metrics to measure AI tooling impact and iterate based on data
