Job summary

Chainalysis in London is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to lead analytical work across both UTXO and EVM blockchains. You will own multiple production data-science projects and shape technical direction from prototype to production.

You’ll apply advanced statistical models, graph algorithms, and ML to large-scale on-chain data, while mentoring peers and collaborating across Research, Intelligence, Product, and Engineering to deliver impact.

Qualifications

• Advanced expertise in statistics and machine learning demonstrated through work or research.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL with production-quality code.
• Ability to apply analysis techniques (graph algorithms, ML, inference) to large messy data.
• Ability to learn new domains and data models quickly; blockchain experience is a plus but not required.
• Proven track record of owning multiple projects from design to delivery.
• Strong written and verbal communication to explain complex methods and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Own and prioritise multiple data-science projects or systems, translating broad problems into actionable work.
• Design, develop, and validate analytical methods and algorithms across blockchain data.
• Stay current with advances and pilot techniques on large-scale on-chain datasets.
• Identify inefficiencies, make architectural decisions, and balance long-term health with delivery.
• Drive cross-functional alignment and defend methodology and results.
• Mentor team members and contribute to onboarding and hiring.
• Collaborate to move research from prototype to production systems.
