Job summary

Chainalysis in London is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to lead analytical and machine-learning work across UTXO and EVM blockchains within the Research and Intelligence organisation. You will own multiple projects end-to-end, shaping methods and delivering impact for global customers.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree or equivalent in statistics, ML, CS, physics, mathematics, or a quantitative field.
• Expert-level Python and SQL with production-quality code experience.
• Experience applying advanced analytical techniques to large, messy datasets.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar domains and data models quickly, with blockchain experience welcome but not required.
• Ability to own and prioritise multiple projects and drive cross-functional delivery.
• Analytical mindset, comfortable with ambiguity and cross-team collaboration.
• Strong written and verbal communication, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Own and prioritise multiple production data-science projects, translating problems into actionable work and delivering measurable outcomes.
• Design and validate analytical methods, models, heuristics, and algorithms across blockchain data to attribute activity and gain insights.
• Stay current with data-science and blockchain advances; pilot graph computation, statistical modeling, and ML on large-scale data.
• Identify inefficiencies, make architectural decisions, and balance long-term health with new delivery.
• Drive cross-functional alignment and defend methodologies while evolving requirements.
• Mentor team members and contribute to onboarding and hiring, plus share knowledge via docs and talks.
• Collaborate with Research, Global Intelligence, Product, and Engineering to move research to production and build tools.
