Job summary

Verda is building a full-stack AI cloud and is seeking a Staff Engineer for Cloud to set technical direction across multiple domains and teams. This is a hands-on IC role with no direct reports, where credibility and strong judgment drive architecture.

You will work closely with Leads, Engineering Managers, Product, and our Principal Engineer to keep architecture, sequencing, and trade-offs coherent as Cloud grows, mentoring engineers and reviewing designs.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Go and JavaScript with production systems experience.
• Experience setting technical direction across multiple systems or teams.
• Strong fundamentals in architecture, APIs, data, reliability, security, and operability.
• Track record of building or reshaping systems.
• Ability to resolve cross-team disagreements and explain trade-offs.
• Comfort coding, debugging and operating production systems.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leads.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work with ambiguity and high autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction across multiple Cloud domains and teams, ensuring coherence.
• Lead high-impact, cross-team technical initiatives end to end with hands-on code involvement.
• Align architecture, dependencies, and trade-offs with leads, the Principal Engineer, Product, and Engineering Managers.
• Set and uphold engineering standards for correctness, testing, security, observability, performance, and data integrity.
• Resolve cross-domain disputes, make decisions, and document reasoning.
• Review designs and code, mentoring senior engineers through real work.
• Turn recurring incidents into durable systemic fixes.
