Job summary

Altium is seeking a Staff Software Engineer in the Cambourne area to design, implement, and maintain the federated Platform API, gateway services, and customer‑facing applications. You will help shape the API ecosystem with SDKs, MCP servers, and tooling for automated access, enabling users and AI clients to integrate Altium products and services.

You will work closely with backend, frontend, data platform, and DevOps teams to deliver a world‑class platform.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in a software development role.
• Strong ownership and accountability.
• Independent thinker with initiative and responsibility.
• Proficient in at least one major language: C#, Python, Golang, JS/TS.
• Solid understanding of software architecture for web services and platforms.
• Ability to collaborate with globally distributed stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build, extend and maintain the API, SDKs, and MCP servers.
• Design and develop scalable services using C#, Python, Go and related tech.
• Integrate web services with Altium systems and external platforms.
• Collaborate with backend, frontend, data platform and DevOps teams.
• Help customers adopt the Platform via API and tools.
• Address customer inquiries, enhancements and bug reports.
• Participate in code reviews and coding standards.
• Contribute to team ceremonies and continuous improvement.
• Support Platform adoption partnerships with customers.
• Enable automation through Platform data and services.
