Job summary

Addepar is seeking a Staff Backend Software Engineer in Edinburgh to join the Product Platform team and build foundational components for our data/AI ecosystem. You will lead API service design powering our European expansion and modernize architecture to scale across regions.

You will contribute technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive innovation while ensuring secure, scalable, and compliant solutions for a multinational client base.

Qualifications

• Extensive backend development experience in a professional environment.
• Deep knowledge of software design patterns, REST APIs, and SDLC.
• Proven ability to influence technical direction and architect distributed systems.
• Experience building services with Java, SQL and AWS.
• Interest in applying AI in engineering environments.
• Interest or experience in the financial industry or wealth management.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement robust API services to support our European customer base.
• Lead architecture designs and product roadmap creation.
• Research and drive the adoption of new technologies and best practices.
• Analyze and dive deep into a complex ecosystem to determine optimal approaches.
• Mentor, coach, and empower other engineers within a high-performing team.
• Contribute to code reviews and technical designs to uplift peers.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues across the stack.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers and stakeholders.
