Grafana Labs in a fully remote setup seeks a Staff-level Backend Engineer to help build production services for a context layer management system. You will design and ship the core backend architecture powering ingestion, context storage, retrieval APIs, and agent-facing integrations.

The role is early-stage with high autonomy, requiring pragmatic architectural decisions, comfort with ambiguity, and building systems that scale from internal tools to production-grade SaaS.

Responsibilities

• Build core backend services for context ingestion, indexing, and retrieval APIs.
• Develop scalable, multi-tenant SaaS foundations with proper isolation and observability.
• Create agent-facing interfaces for AI tools, MCPs, CLIs, and internal apps to access context.
• Collaborate with product and infra teams to balance speed and long-term reliability.
• Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, and dashboards to improve reliability.
• Contribute to architectural direction, storage choices, API contracts, and deployment patterns.
• Communicate effectively in a dynamic, collaborative environment and own responsibilities.
