At a glance

• Flexible Working: This is a hybrid role, primarily split between working from home (UK) and our London/Bracknell Head Offices. You may also need to visit other locations as required.

• Most engineers visit the office once or twice a month; occasional increased attendance may be needed based on business needs. Offices are open five days a week for those preferring more regular onsite work.

• Expected Salary: £59,500 - £92,400 (dependent on experience)

• Contract type: Permanent

What will you be doing?

• Joining an agile product team as a Staff Back-End Software Engineer, utilizing Kotlin or Java to develop and support new features that add value to our business.

• Leading project shaping and supporting the professional development of less experienced engineers as a Staff Engineer.

• Opportunities to progress into people management roles if interested.

• We seek candidates passionate about delivering innovative software solutions and experienced in working on complex, high-performance, high-quality software in team environments.

Internally, this role is known as Product Engineer (L6).

Essential skills/experience you’ll need

• Extensive experience leading, coaching, and mentoring teams or individuals.

• Expertise in server-side Kotlin or modern Java.

• Structured approach to systems analysis and development.

• Good understanding of Microservice Architectures.

• Experience with frameworks like http4k or Spring Boot.

• Knowledge of Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.

• Experience with TDD, pair programming, and CI/CD practices.

• REST API development and consumption experience.

Desirable skills/experience

• Experience with Cloud Platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Gitlab CI.
