Arbor Education is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead architectural strategy across core products and guide the AI-first evolution of our SDLC. You will set direction for multiple teams, mentor engineers, and partner with product and leadership to drive high-impact delivery.

You’ll shape architecture, ensure security/compliance, and collaborate with senior engineers to advance Arbor’s technology trajectory in a fast-growing education tech environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive track record of delivering outcomes and leading across large, complex product suites.
• Broad understanding of software architecture and scalable integration patterns.
• Excellent communication and influencing across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to grow engineers and technical leads while delivering value across distributed teams.
• Experience in ownership culture with focus on quality, performance, observability and security.
• Experience guiding teams in architectural design and MVP/0‑1 thinking.
• Understanding AI-first engineering and its impact on SDLC and workflows.
• Contributing to technical communities of practice (chapters, guilds, councils).
• Familiarity with PHP, Node, React, Python, MySQL, AWS.
• Experience navigating between monolithic and distributed architectures.

Responsabilités

• Partner with Technical Leads to provide hands-on guidance for feature delivery and architecture improvements.
• Collaborate with Product Directors to translate product vision into deliverables.
• Lead the shift to AI-first practices and architect new SDLC foundations.
• Mentor and coach engineers on architectural excellence and career growth.
• Act as a role model for technical leadership with a focus on outcomes.
• Head architectural reviews ensuring quality, reliability, security and compliance.
• Collaborate with Staff and Principal Engineers to shape Arbor's broader tech strategy.
• Partner with Engineering Management to grow teams and manage risks.
