Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Staff Application Security Engineer to steer the program for vulnerability management across cloud, firmware, and enterprise systems. You will set technical direction, drive remediation, and mentor engineers while collaborating with leadership on risk tradeoffs.

You will champion security automation, partner with IAM and DevOps, and help Samsara scale globally while maintaining a customer‑first security posture.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in cloud/security engineering with vulnerability management across large, multi-product environments.
• Proficient in Go, Python, and JavaScript.
• Ability to independently set technical and architectural direction for a security program and drive remediation across surfaces without direct authority.
• Experience with modern vulnerability management tooling and CVSS/EPSS.
• Strong AWS background; knowledge of SAST/DAST/SCA.

Responsibilities

• Lead the ongoing strategy, operation, and continuous improvement of Samsara's vulnerability management program and other core application security programs.
• Drive down MTTR across the backlog as SLAs tighten; build automation and tooling to scale detection and response.
• Define the process direction and translate leadership priorities into an executable plan for the team.
• Mentor engineers on secure design and remediation practices; be a technical voice for prioritization decisions.
• Communicate risk and remediation tradeoffs to engineering leadership in actionable terms.
• Participate in security incident investigations involving high-profile vulnerabilities; be on call for critical vulnerability response.
