Job summary

Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) is seeking an experienced SSHEQ Assurance Manager to support the Shaft & Silo Programme in the UK. You will lead assurance activities, drive improvements and provide an integrated view of SSHEQ performance across the programme.

Working with the Programme SSHEQ Manager and leadership, you will engage regulators and stakeholders, manage resources and deputise when required to uphold safety, quality and continuous improvement in a complex nuclear environment.

Qualifications

• HND or equivalent qualification in science, engineering or business.
• NEBOSH Certificate and solid SSHEQ knowledge required.
• Extensive nuclear industry SSHEQ experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead assurance and drive improvement: develop, implement LoD assurance programmes using audits, UNORs, SNOWs and non-conformances.
• Provide integrated SSHEQ performance reporting to programme leadership and coordinate investigations.
• Represent SSHEQ during audits including ISO accreditation and recertification; liaise with regulators and stakeholders.
• Manage SSHEQ resources, training, Learning from Experience (LfE) and deputise for the Programme SSHEQ Manager as required.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Shaft & Silo Programme for an experienced Safety, Security, Health, Environment and Quality (SSHEQ) Assurance Manager to play a key role in supporting the safe, secure and successful delivery of this important programme.

Working closely with the Programme SSHEQ Manager and leadership team, you’ll lead assurance activity, provide a clear and integrated view of SSHEQ performance and help turn learning into meaningful improvement. This is an influential role where you’ll work across the programme, engage with key stakeholders and regulators, and help strengthen a positive culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead assurance and drive improvement: Develop, implement and monitor line of defence 2 (LoD) assurance programmes, using findings from audits, investigations, unusual occurrence reports (UNOR), Second Nature Observation in the Workplace (SNOWs) and non-conformances to identify learning, strengthen performance and support continuous improvement
• Provide insight and assurance: Deliver integrated SSHEQ performance reporting to programme leadership, coordinate investigations and onward incident reporting, and ensure changes to the NRS Dounreay management system are effectively communicated and implemented
• Build strong relationships: Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, regulators, Security Champions and programme teams, representing the SSHEQ function during internal and external audits, including ISO accreditation and recertification
• Manage NRS Dounreay and contract-supplied SSHEQ resources, support SSHEQ training and Learning from Experience (LfE), undertake relevant Management Authorisations and deputise for the Programme SSHEQ Manager when required

What You’ll Bring

• Relevant qualifications: HND in Science, Engineering, Business or an equivalent qualification, supported by relevant experience
• Professional safety knowledge: A NEBOSH Certificate and a strong understanding of effective SSHEQ assurance and management arrangements
• Nuclear industry expertise: Extensive SSHEQ experience within the nuclear industry, with the ability to apply your knowledge in a complex programme environment
• Strong communication and influencing skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build effective relationships and liaise professionally with stakeholders, leadership teams and regulators
• Post specific capability analysis assessment
