FirstLight is currently seeking a candidate to work within our System Engineering department, which supports our multitenant cloud services. We are seeking a proactive problem-solver with deep expertise in system engineering and enterprise VMware environments.

The right candidate will be part of a tight-knit, customer-focused, and highly collaborative team that emphasizes knowledge sharing and skills development.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support and maintain our multi-tenant VMware cloud stack.
• Strong experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and other technologies involved in vCloud Foundation such as vCloud Director.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 2 escalations.
• Participate in research and development on the latest virtualization technologies, tools, and capabilities, as well as other emerging infrastructure capabilities in conjunction with our Infrastructure and Architecture teams.
• Create and maintain documentation and templates.
• Contribute to excellent customer service, communication, process support, and accountability.
• Maintain a strong technical background and understanding of supporting enterprise technologies.
• Proven experience in managing and supporting VMware environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose complex system issues.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Required Technology Skills

Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience with architecture, implementation, and support of mixed Microsoft and Linux environments with the following technologies:

• VMware 8
• Extensive experience with vCloud Director; a history in large VMware environments and knowledge of other public and private cloud offerings is advantageous.
• Microsoft Server and Active Directory
• Clustering, replication, and high-availability technologies
• High-performance storage and Storage Area Networks (SANs)
• Enterprise systems and security
• Planning and implementing complex projects
• Veeam, Zerto backup, and disaster recovery technologies
• IP networks, VLANs, subnetting, and common network protocols
• Installation and configuration of SQL

Required Executive Functioning

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and strong written and oral communication skills
• Independent self-starter capable of completing job functions with minimal supervision
• Reliable and responsible team player, with skills in documentation, mentoring, and collaboration
• Strong desire to learn new skills and apply knowledge to solve challenges and improve the team
• Provide excellent service while interacting with customers

Certification and Education

• VMware VCP or VCAP
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject is preferred but not required.
