Role Overview

The Business Analyst is responsible for delivering high‑quality business and data analysis within a defined workstream or delivery team.

You will work closely with product managers, data engineers, stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document requirements, supporting the delivery of trusted data assets and analytics. The role requires a practical, hands‑on analyst who can work with guidance from senior analysts while taking ownership of assigned analysis activities.

You will also contribute to business change activities, supporting the adoption of new data products, analytics, and ways of working. This includes helping stakeholders understand change impacts, supporting benefits realisation, and using structured analysis techniques such as logic models to link programme activities to outcomes and benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Elicit, analyse, and document business and data requirements for data ingestion, transformation, and analytics use cases.
  • Produce clear analysis artefacts including user stories, data definitions, source‑to‑target mappings, and acceptance criteria.
  • Work as part of an Agile delivery team, supporting backlog refinement, sprint planning, and iterative elaboration of requirements.
  • Use Jira to manage user stories, acceptance criteria, and traceability between business needs and delivered solutions.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and platform teams to clarify requirements and support accurate implementation within Palantir Foundry.
  • Support data validation, reconciliation, and UAT activities, helping to confirm that delivered datasets meet agreed business expectations.
  • Identify data quality issues or gaps and escalate risks or dependencies to senior analysts or delivery leads.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand reporting and analytical needs, supporting translation into data requirements.
  • Maintain analysis documentation in line with programme standards and governance requirements.
  • Support Business Change activities, including analysis of change impacts, stakeholder needs, and readiness for adoption of new data and analytics capabilities.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of logic models to clearly articulate the relationship between programme inputs, activities, outputs, outcomes, and benefits.
  • Work with delivery and change leads to ensure that data and analytics solutions are aligned to clearly defined outcomes and measurable benefits.
  • Support benefits tracking and reporting by helping to define measures, assumptions, and dependencies associated with data‑enabled change.
  • Proven experience working as a Business Analyst within data, analytics, or digital delivery programmes.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments, contributing to sprint‑based delivery and backlog‑driven development.
  • Hands‑on experience using Jira (or equivalent tooling) to manage user stories and requirements.
  • Experience defining data requirements, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
  • Working knowledge of the data lifecycle, from source systems through to analytics and reporting.
  • Experience delivering within UK public sector environments, with awareness of governance and compliance considerations.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting business change activities within digital, data, or analytics programmes.
  • Practical experience developing or contributing to logic models, benefits maps, or similar outcome‑focused frameworks.
  • Exposure to Palantir Foundry or similar data and analytics platforms.
  • Desirable experience on projects involving AWS‑hosted data platforms.
  • Desirable experience working with or alongside Databricks‑based data solutions.
  • Familiarity with healthcare or population health data use cases.
  • Awareness of data standards and interoperability concepts (e.g. FHIR).
