Job summary

Whitgift School is seeking a proactive Groundsperson to maintain cricket pitches, hybrid surfaces and lawns across a large estate in South Croydon. You will help prepare facilities for sporting and educational use and support school events and estate upkeep.

The role requires practical grounds skills, a good understanding of safety and the ability to work alone or in a team, with a commitment to high standards across the grounds.

Qualifications

• Grounds maintenance, sports turf management, landscaping or a similar outdoor environment, together with strong practical skills.
• An understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrate flexibility in supporting school activities.
• Be committed to maintaining high standards across the school's grounds and facilities.
• Relevant qualifications in sports turf, horticulture or grounds maintenance, together with machinery, pesticide or first aid certifications, would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and maintaining cricket pitches, hybrid sports surfaces, lawns and landscaped areas to a high standard.
• Assisting with school events, equipment maintenance and general upkeep of the estate.
