Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Sports Data Scientist to join its hybrid team in London. You will collect, clean, analyze, and interpret complex datasets relating to player performance, game strategy, and fan engagement to enable data-driven decision making.

You will build predictive models, dashboards, and reports, collaborate with coaches and management, and stay abreast of advances in analytics and ML to unlock performance breakthroughs in professional sport.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and analytical Sports Data Scientist to join their hybrid team. You will be responsible for collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and interpreting complex datasets related to player performance, game strategy, and fan engagement. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy predictive models to analyze athlete performance, identify key performance indicators, and optimize training regimens.
• Utilize advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to extract meaningful insights from large and complex sports datasets.
• Collaborate with coaches, analysts, and management to understand their data needs and translate them into analytical projects.
• Design and build dashboards and reports to visualize data and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and sports analytics, applying new methodologies to solve unique challenges.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience as a Data Scientist , with a strong portfolio demonstrating successful projects.
• Expertise in programming languages such as Python or R, and proficiency with SQL and big data technologies.
• Solid understanding of machine learning techniques, statistical modeling, and data mining principles.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly in both remote and in-person settings.
