Job summary

Friar's Grove Primary School in Colchester is seeking a flexible Sports Coach / Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join its team.

The role is part-time, term-time only (38 weeks/year) with a paid salary of £19,933.09 (Scale 5, Points 10–13). The post involves delivering PE, covering classes for PPA and sickness, and supporting school-wide interventions.

Qualifications

• A flexible team player, experienced and confident delivering sports coaching to children aged 4-11.
• Confidence to cover classes from Reception to Year 6.
• Knowledge of the primary curriculum and high standards of pupil attainment.
• Inclusive approach to positive behaviour, following the school's policy.
• A sports coaching qualification.
• GCSE Maths and English passed or equivalent.
• High standard of written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Deliver PE lessons to cover teachers for PPA.
• Cover sickness across the school and deliver interventions when not covering classes.
• Share strengths and interests with classes across the school.

What are we looking for?

• A flexible team player, who is experienced and confident in delivering sports coaching to children aged 4-11.
• Confidence to cover classes in all year groups from Reception to Year 6
• A knowledge of the primary curriculum and high standards of pupil attainment.
• An inclusive approach to positive behaviour, building relationships with children and willing to follow the school's behaviour policy.
• A sports coaching qualification
• At least Maths and English passed at GCSE or equivalent.
• A high standard of written and spoken English
