Job summary

Spectrum IT is recruiting an experienced Data Engineer to join a growing Data Science team within a leading professional sports organisation. You will design and maintain reliable data pipelines, primarily using Python and SQL, and help grow the Databricks-based data platform for performance analytics.

You will work closely with Data Scientists to provide well-structured data, identify opportunities for automation and drive improvements in data processing and architecture.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years’ commercial experience in a Data Engineering role.
• Strong hands-on Python and SQL programming.
• Experience developing and maintaining data pipelines and data processing workflows.
• Good understanding of data architecture, data transformation and data management principles.
• Ability to work independently and with Data Scientists.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to share knowledge.
• Desirable: Databricks experience, cloud data platforms, event/tracking data, degree in CS/Data Eng/Math.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain data pipelines and processes for analytics and performance.
• Work with Python and SQL to transform and manage complex datasets.
• Support and optimise the Databricks environment for scalability and efficiency.
• Integrate various sources of performance data, including event and tracking data.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to ensure access to accurate, reliable data.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve data processes.
• Take ownership of data engineering challenges and best practices.
• Contribute to evolving data architecture and future technology choices.
