Bishop Burton College is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Sports Development Officer to join our Commercial Sports team and support the continued development of sport and active leisure opportunities across the College.
As Sports Development Officer, you will play an important role in increasing participation in sport, supporting student wellbeing and creating a vibrant sporting community. You will work closely with the Sport Development Manager, students, curriculum teams, National Governing Bodies, community sports organisations, clubs and other external partners to develop and deliver a varied programme of sporting activities and opportunities.
You will help coordinate student sport, including competitive and recreational activities, events, volunteering and opportunities provided through National Governing Bodies and community partners. You will also contribute to practical learning experiences, and support major College sporting events.
A key part of the role will be promoting health, wellbeing and inclusion across the College. You will have opportunities to deliver mental health and wellbeing initiatives, engage students from across different academic areas and help ensure that sport and physical activity are accessible to a diverse student population.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about sport and enjoys working with young people. You will have experience of delivering sport development activities and ideally experience of areas such as event management, community partnerships and mental health and wellbeing activities.
You will have a good understanding of sport development and participation, National Governing Bodies of Sport and competitive sport structures within Further and Higher Education. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects will be essential, alongside the ability to build positive and appropriate relationships with young people.
Coaching qualifications are desirable, and we welcome candidates who are committed to continuing their professional development.
